There is a Beach
03:39
|
|||
There is a beach that lies beyond this bay
Where I once spent many a day
Lying on the rocks by the lapping tide
Watching the crabs go scuttling by
Voices from the waves, they’d call to me
And I would jump into the foam
Sand and sea were all and all to me
Beach and ocean were my home
There is a beach that lies beyond this bay
Where sand sharks and sea stars play
And I could just sit in the sinking sun
Smiling back at the horizon
Voices from the waves, they’d sing to me
And my spirits would rise with the foam
Orcas, they would bring to me
Gifts from wherever they had roamed
There is a beach that lies beyond this bay
Where I once spent many a day

Verse 1:
There's 2 sides to a single coin
Night needs day to keep on goin'
There is no empty w/out full
& I need you to make me whole
Chorus:
Anamcara, you are my soul mate
Anamcara, the angels knit our fate
Anamcara, as the moon reflect the sun
Anamcara, so you & I are one
Verse 2:
Black & white & he & she
So goes all reality
The sky must hold the flying gull
& may your soul embrace my soul

The Ballad of Peg
03:54
|
|||
Verse 1:
One day as the sun rose
A familiar smell reached Smiley’s nose
One day as the sun came up
Smiley knew this was his last cup
Verse 2:
Of coffee in this here town
He had to leave, no hangin' around
He saddled up his faithful Peg
Proud mare with prosthetic leg
Chorus:
They call her Peg, her name is Peg
Heart of gold and a wooden leg
They call her Peg, her name is Peg
She’s a fox and the world is her egg
Verse 3:
They rode toward the distant horizon
They took a rest then kept on ridin’
Smiley’s brand of wisdom now
Was needed in some other town
Chorus
Verse 4:
“C’mon Peg, my faithful horse
Watch the road, I’ll chart the course
Limp onward toward that Western star
We must be where’er we are
Chorus
from the Ballad of Smiley the Cowhand & Other Tales of Foolish Wisdom, released December 29, 2015

Written by Ed McCurdy
Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war
I dreamed I saw a mighty room
Filled with women and men
And the papers they were signing said
They'd never fight again
And when the papers were all signed
and a million copies made
They all joined hands and bowed their heads
And grateful prayers were prayed
And the people in the streets below
Were dancing round and round
And swords and guns and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground
Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war
from Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream (single), released March 30, 2014
