Smiley the cowhand rode into town
On a horse with a prosthetic leg
His hair was cloudy grey; his clothes were dusty brown
His handicapped horse was named Peg
The town did not need cowhands; they had more than their share
Especially not one with such a special mare
So Smiley took a job repairing wagon wheels
4 for the cost of 3; such fantastic deals!
When people came to see him he was quiet and shy
He didn’t talk if he didn’t need; he weren’t that kinda guy
But if they ever asked him what made his wheels so great
He had a little wisdom which he would then relate
Thirty spokes share one hub; a hole's needed for a wheel
A vase with that won’t hold flowers has no place upon a the seal
Doors and windows for a room are most desirable
What good is a doorway if the doorway’s always full?

Smiley vs Back Blart
01:37
|
|||
Back Blart, black heart
Rollin’ down the street w/ a square-wheeled cart
Pulled up outside of Smiley’s shop
Burst through the doorway & didn’t stop
‘Till he stood toe to toe with Smiley’s boots
Looked him in the eye, snoot to snoot
Offered up a challenge, he said, “Fix my wagon!
Hurry up now, and don’t be draggin’”
Smiley smiled as he’s wont to do
Told Blart, “I’ll fix your wheel for you,
But there’s one thing you should know before I mend it
You can’t save time you can only spend it.”

Mayhap

Poor Smiley, misemployed
You must be so annoyed
Such rotten terrible luck
Gotta make wheels to turn a buck
Mayhap, mayhap
But tulips need crap
Who really can know
Where a flower may grow?
Look Smiley all your bills are void
You must be overjoyed
Such super, wonderful luck
Your wheel-fixin’ pulled you out of the muck
Mayhap, mayhap
But devils do nap
Who really can know
When an ill wind may blow?
Come rain come shine
Vinegar or red wine
As the valley needs the hill
The tumbleweed blows where it will

The Ballad of Peg
03:54
|
|||
Verse 1:
One day as the sun rose
A familiar smell reached Smiley’s nose
One day as the sun came up
Smiley knew this was his last cup
Verse 2:
Of coffee in this here town
He had to leave, no hangin' around
He saddled up his faithful Peg
Proud mare with prosthetic leg
Chorus:
They call her Peg, her name is Peg
Heart of gold and a wooden leg
They call her Peg, her name is Peg
She’s a fox and the world is her egg
Verse 3:
They rode toward the distant horizon
They took a rest then kept on ridin’
Smiley’s brand of wisdom now
Was needed in some other town
Chorus
Verse 4:
“C’mon Peg, my faithful horse
Watch the road, I’ll chart the course
Limp onward toward that Western star
We must be where’er we are
Chorus
